Winter Time Update from Giovanni Mobilio

my most fabulous peeps,

greetings from windy berlin… it has been a while since i had the chance to rap at you, and i am happy that i am sitting down to do it… i can fill everyone in with how everything is going down in my world… i do hope that this note finds everyone doing well, it has been another insane year, of course, and if it was not for finally being able to travel this year, i would be a lot less sane than i am now.

i mentioned back in summer that my plan was to take my first break from my artwork in years, although i actually spent a month of that time reaching out to galleries and trying to pitch some projects of mine… so i guess it was not a total break… it was nice to send some things around the world to try and stir-up some excitement about THUNDER WHEEL… i am still looking for a gallery to host this project, so if you know of anyone out there in your wide circle of friends who might be into that, please let me know.

that second month of my break i was finally able to fly back to the states to hang with some long missed family and friends… my brother and I were able to do an epic chattooga river trip that was on hold for a long time because of the plague… that brought a whole lot of dear friends out of the woodwork for paddling, hiking and music playing… a lot of great food, too… i was also able to see a bunch of my dear atlanta peeps while i was there too, which felt so sweet…

my brother joe and i on the river – sept. 2021

i was also able to spend a week in florida seeing even more family and friends… all the while on this tour of mine, i was sketching a bit, and i could feel the energy level and the ideas starting to flow in, which felt good after being drained for such a long time… i was even reunited with an older painting of mine in atlanta, which spawned the idea for a new work, but more on that later…

new smyrna beach – sept. 2021

petra and i were also able to make a trip to greece for a while, to say a proper goodbye to the sun and to visit the heroic ruins of rhodos… i was even able to fit a few dives in while i was there… it had been about 18 months since my last dive, so i was really excited to get my ass back in the water… there is no better way on earth to relax a weary soul than to be underwater, in the silence, just digging it all…

berchtesgadener land – summer – 2021

so, now for the creative side of things. before you start to think i am one of those travel-bloggers, it is all about the ART…

i came back from greece and hit the ground running, and i was able to get a medium-sized canvas all finished up and done in a couple of months… i’m feeling a new energy and it’s a lot more focused than my stuff leading up to my break… over those same months i sold a painting to a collector in orlando and a few prints as well…

YOU’RE GOING TO REGRET THIS DANCE – oil on linen, 2021

i am also very grateful to have just sold the above painting to a collector in tampa… i took an opportunity back in january to invest in a new camera, one with higher resolution, so i can now take 100% top-quality photos all on my own, which is a nice project to geek-out on… i have been trained these past few years by a pro (you know who you are), and i am grateful for his sage advice and patience… this new camera will make all of my paintings from now on available as prints, even if the painting is sold… if a print of one of my paintings is something you might be interested in, please reach out and let a fella know…

one last thank you to tech-wizard eric for all of his work on my website… he is currently living in amsterdam, so it is nice to have him so close and i am hoping we get fit some hikes in this coming year… and while we are at it, i am wishing all of you a wonderful new year – may it just keep getting better and better…

we still have our children’s book available online here.

i thank each and every one of you for your support over this past year, whether it was by purchasing a painting or letting me surf on your couch… i bless you for it…

i remain,

your obedient servant,

giovanni
