Giovanni Mobilio is a Berlin-based painter and children’s book illustrator. Raised in the Southern United States, he moved to Hamburg in 2008  to try his luck in the Old World. In Hamburg he was involved in yearly solo shows and various group exhibitions, including Support Your Local Heroes at the Gallery Halb-Acht. In the spring of 2012 he was an artist in residence at the Heiko Beck Gallery, where he hosted “balls over hannover.” Giovanni moved to Berlin in 2016, and is looking to expand his exposure throughout Germany and Europe. Since his first Berlin exhibition in 2019, he has been filling his studio with new works.

Born in 1973 in College Park, Florida, he received a State Fine Arts Scholarship to attend Savannah College of Art and Design. He also studied art at the University of Georgia (Athens). After a few years painting in Athens, Giovanni moved to New York City in 2000, where he worked at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise and at the bar Passerby. His first solo show in Manhattan was in 2006 at The Sensei Gallery.
